Main Purpose of the Job- (Job Summary)
Provide and ensure quality obstetrics and gynaecology services within the Avenue group in line with the company policies and procedures

Main Responsibilities

1.Attend to walk in and referred obstetrics and gynaecology patients both out and in patient.
2.Offering obstetrics and gynaecology consultancy to all the doctors in Avenue Group.
3.Oversee the obstetrics and gynaecology department
4.Run the gynaecology and Antenatal clinics.
5.Provision of superior diagnostic, preventative and interventional medical care. 
6.Accurate and clear documentation of patient history, physical examination, investigations, and management.
7.Provide clarity of investigations to be carried out and interpretation of the results and ensure update to the patients and the next of kin. 
8.Facilitates patient admissions, necessary consents and discharges.
9.Counsel clients on treatment and compliance to treatment (patient and family) while ensuring their participation in decision making in their management.
10.Carry out procedures and surgical interventions (obstetric & gynaecological) while ensuring high quality of care/services and safety of patients.
11.Conduct family conferences on need basis.
12.Participate in morbidity and mortality meetings as required.
13.Participation in incident reporting, root cause analysis and Quality Improvement Plan
14.Participation in resuscitation of patients. 
15.Conduct timely ward rounds and patient reviews 
16.Facilitate Continuous Medical Education and mentorship to colleagues to build capacity to provide care.
17.Acquiring new skills on best practices and assist in their implementation. 
18.Maintain a positive work attitude and foster teamwork.
19.Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality at all times.
20.Ensure patient satisfaction through quality of care, communication, feedback and escalation through the standardized tool for patient satisfaction measurement and demonstrate follow-up and improvement.
21.Ensure the facility is financially viable and demonstrate growth.
a. Increase the quality and diversity of services offered in the facility. Support marketing activities to ensure introduction of new services.
b. Ensure pre-authorizations have been sought 
c. Ensure timely and accurate billing of drugs and services.
d. Work closely with the credit controller to monitor patient limits.
22.Ensure that Avenue corporate governance policies are adhered to. 
a. Prevent, detect and report any fraud or criminal activity
b. Timely review and implementation of audit recommendations
23.Ensure adequate knowledge of all Avenue policies, procedures and systems as outlined in the HRMIS.
24.Any other duty as assigned by your immediate supervisor in line with the job description.


Person Specification
1.Experience in a hospital or clinic setting, preferably in gynaecology and obstetrics.
2.Excellent surgical skills with a focus on patient safety and optimal outcomes.
3.Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
4.Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic clinical environment.
5.Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
6. Updated BLS, ACLS/ATLS certificate
7.A valid Kenya Medical Practitioners’ and Dentists Board License (KMPDB) will be required.
